Dear Colleague:

On behalf of the organizing committee, we feel greatly honored to welcome you to the 21st IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics (ISIE2012) held in Hangzhou, China, from May 28 to May 31, 2012. Thank you for your help and involvement which will make ISIE2012 a success.

ISIE2012 has seven technical tracks and fifteen special sessions. There were a total of 509 submissions sent from 49 Countries, from which 333 high-quality papers were finally accepted in the proceedings after peer reviews. Tutorials by field experts have been arranged to equip engineers, researchers, and students with the latest knowledge in power electronics, renewable energy, smart grid, and control. The conference also includes Industrial Forums, Student Forums, and exhibitions. Furthermore, a reception and a gala dinner with wonderful Chinese traditional performances are especially prepared for you to appreciate and enjoy the unique glamour of the Chinese culture.

We would like to thank all the conference committee members and colleagues who have graciously volunteered their time and effort to make ISIE2012 a success. We sincerely appreciate all our sponsors, including Mitsubishi Electric & Electronics, Fuji Electric, RS Components, Delta Electronics, Silergy and Xiamen Kehua Hengsheng for their financial supports and participation in ISIE2012.

The city of Hangzhou has more than 4700 years of history. It was developed into a prosperous capital of China during the South Song Dynasty about 800 years ago. Now Hangzhou is one of the most famous tourist places in China. During your stay in Hangzhou, besides participating in the symposium activities, please plan on spending time touring the city, enjoying the local culture, and savoring the delightful regional cuisine. The venue hotel is located downtown Hangzhou. A visit to West Lake (recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage site) is highly recommended, only 15 minutes away by taxi or bus ride. Around West Lake, you can enjoy its beauty and tranquility. You will submerge into the historic atmosphere of ancient China by visiting temples, pagodas, small bridges and pavilions around the lake.

We sincerely hope that ISIE2012 will not only provide you with the wonderful experience of a technology conference, but will also offer a place to meet old friends, make new contacts, and enjoy the Chinese culture.
